Behind the scenes development stuff showcasing how I go about figuring out what this final drawing is going to look like with the tournatoo and bicycle.... Basically its another childhood memory scene of riding down Kaukonahua Rd to Paalaa Kai Store with a tournatoo passing by on the plantation road.
I tend to be thorough in my research and planning. I think it's because I like to explore all my options before making a decision. Plus since this is my own work, all the extra research drawings are great practice.

Sugar hauler study
Drawing studies and perspective practice. Sugarcane haulers. We called them "tournatoo." Not sure how that name originated. They would transport the harvested sugarcane from the fields to the sugar mill for processing.

Improving my work
Trying to push my drawings to the next-level. Had a nice chat with Pete and evaluated where I am at and where I need to go. Two major areas: 1) I have to stop being lazy and scared (mostly scared) and start putting the structure and logic into my work. 2) I clearly need to take my composition and design sense up a notch; improve the arrangement of elements and arrangements of my tones to create something more dynamic and interesting that guide the eyes. The journey continues.

When I was a kid...
A rough sketch. My sisters and I climbed this plumeria tree at my auntie's house when we were kids. I don't think we could see the sugar mill from the tree top but this is my imagination so I can do whatever I want. :)
